Artist Bio
Mr. Long (Longhui Zhang) is an interdisciplinary visual artist working and living in North Texas. With background of Studio Art and Mix-media Design, Long's artwork presents a broad range from traditional 2D painting to 3D sculpture, installations, performance and digital video art. The concept of his work emerges from personal interest of the politic and understanding of multi-culture.
Originally from Quanzhou, Fujian, China, Longhui Zhang’s current work is based on his personal experience of immigration and familial relationships from both in the US and China. The body of work focuses on the suitcase and related material resource as a symbol of identity—as a container of self and the vehicle of transformation.
Mr. Long's work has been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Fujian, Denton, Dallas and Fort Worth. He holds a B.F.A. in Multimedia Animation and Web Design from prestigious China Academy of Art and a M.F.A. in Drawing & Painting from University of North Texas with Full Scholarship. Mr. Long is now teaching at both University of North Texas and Collin College, as well as running his own private workshops. He has been awarded as the winner of the Nasher Sculpture Center 2016 Artist Microgrant in North Texas, and was interviewed by Art&Seek from NPR Kera FM. In summer 2016, Long's four watercolor paintings were in an exhibition “Sustainable Development, Love of Civilizations” at one of China national art museums - the China Cultural Palace of Nationalities, and all four paintings have been collected permanently by committee from Chinese Government and United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. In Spring and Summer of 2017, Long hosted two workshops and one group exhibition in Crow Collection of Asian Art museum in Dallas, and one Chinese ink painting was sold and collected. He has given workshops to high school art teachers from Farmers Branch ISD, Keller ISD, Coppell ISD, and Carrollton ISD, and lectured in China Academy of Art, Fuzhou University, Quanzhou Normal University, etc. Collin College district president awarded Mr. Long as "2017 Inspirational Teacher" which was nominated by students. Long was invited to exhibit work in Nasher Sculpture Center in July 2020.
张龙辉(龙老师),祖籍福建泉州,旅美华人,是活跃在达福地区里屈指可数的就职于美国大学艺术绘画系的年轻华人艺术教师。动画设计专业本科毕业于中国美术学院,后全额奖学金毕业于University of North Texas油画系获得MFA纯艺术创作硕士终身学位,以及博物馆艺术教育证书,他的创作领域涉及水彩,油画,雕塑,装置,当代行为,多媒体视频艺术。龙老师以优异的成绩研究生期间兼任教职后毕业留校UNT任教至今,教授本科生艺术专业知识(素描,设计,水彩,油画,雕塑,艺术赏析),同时任教于Collin College. 来自东西方文化的高等教育背景,既有传统绘画扎实功底, 又有创新的当代艺术设计理念。
2016上半年龙老师获得达拉斯Nasher雕塑博物馆授予的北德州地区艺术家项目基金奖,五位获奖者中唯一的华人,同年接受了NPR Kera FM艺术与探索栏目的德州代表性艺术家个人专访。进入官方专访页面请点击这里。2016下半年龙老师的四幅水彩画参展由联合国和一带一路政府工作委员会筹划的在国家民族文化宫举办的“可持续发展及文明之爱”大展并全部被收藏。2017年, 龙老师在达拉斯克罗亚洲艺术博物馆举办了两场艺术工作坊培训和一场艺术家群展,其中一幅水墨作品被博物馆拍卖永久收藏。这两年间他多次给达福地区的各高中美术老师做绘画工作坊培训比如在Farmers Branch ISD, Keller ISD, Coppell ISD, and Carrollton ISD, 以及给包括中国美院在内的各大院校进行讲座和交流策展。龙老师很荣幸被Collin College学生评为”2017最受欢迎教师“,由总院院长亲自颁奖。 2020年7月,龙老师受邀在 达拉斯Nasher雕塑博物馆展出作品。
龙老师的艺术工作室常年致力于中美艺术文化交流,2016年组织中国大学教授赴美大学交流访问活动并策划展览。中国传统学术背景和设计理念,与西方当代纯艺术相结合,使得张龙辉的艺术作品独具特色带有多面性。他的作品取材来源于对多元文化的敏感性和对政治时事的关注。
张龙辉的近期作品:关于迁徙,移居,旅行的多媒体系列主题主要基于他的个人留学移民经历,以及在美国和中国之间的家庭联系。以承载着记忆和历史的旧行李箱及相关的旅行材料作为素材,创作的当代艺术作品不仅体现了人类文明的运输媒介,而且象征着现代个人身份载体。作品多次展出于美国达拉斯,福沃斯,丹顿地区,以及中国北京,上海各省。
